Mid-Century Solid Walnut up to 96" Dining Table 2.5" Thick
Barn Furniture builds solid American black walnut slab tables with tops up to 2.5" thick. These are solid hardwood slabs — not veneer and not particle board. The grain and mass of the walnut are the table.
Bases are solid mid-century wood, proportioned to the top. A 42" x 72" slab gets a different stance than a 48" x 96" or a larger banquet top. Sweeping Galveston-style legs and other mid-century wood bases are built so the table looks and sits correctly under a thick slab.
Slab-style tables are generally made without leaves. The point of a thick walnut slab is a continuous top. If you need to expand for holidays, call the showroom and we will see what we can do for your size.
Specify the table this way: choose width and length, set thickness up to 2.5", match a mid-century wood base to that top, choose a straight, softened, or live edge, then finish in catalyzed conversion varnish with urethane. Wipe with a soft cloth. No rings, no stains, no oiling schedule.
Standard starting sizes include 42", 44", and 48" widths and 60", 66", 72", 84", and 96" lengths. Custom and massive tops are built to the room. Matching Austin and Rochester chairs, buffets, servers, and china cabinets can be made in the same American black walnut.
Are the tops solid walnut? Yes. Do slab tables have leaves? Generally no — call first. Are the bases mid-century wood? Yes, sized to the top. Can chairs match? Yes.
