Our Rustic Spalted Maple China hutch is carefully created from repurposed Maple from a farm building originally crafted in the early 19th century in Indiana. The wood is respectfully harvested, cut, sorted and then Kiln Dried to assure stable and uninfested wood. Tops and bases always available independently and to your order as to size and color.
Beware of products casually called reclaimed. Reclaimed can mean almost anything including old wood shipping pallets often used to transport dangerous chemicals in drums.
This material looks interesting, however often in the long run Chinese or American built furniture from questionable origins is not a good idea. In addition, Pallet wood tends to be little more than ?" thick boards built up to look thick and often ends up cracking because it isn't dry and the boards can warp. At the Barn, only the best available is used, not the cheapest!
