Choosing the Right Furniture for Your Cabin

Spread the love

You’ve poured you heart and soul, and even your wallet, into creating this amazing log cabin for you and your family. You watched as it was built from the ground up, and now that you can finally open the door and step inside your new cabin you gaze around at this empty, but beautiful space.

It’s your blank slate. You can start fresh and make the interior exactly how you dreamed it to be, just like in the magazines. But how do you start? There are two big questions you need to ask yourself, before bringing in random pieces of furniture, that will help you choose the right furniture for your cabin.

What Design Style Are You Using?
There are three styles of furniture that look the best in a cabin. One is cottage style, which is a smooth, hand-sanded log furniture that looks like it belongs in a cozy cottage. The second is a coastal style of furniture that is made of driftwood-type logs and goes great with a nautical or coastal theme. The third is rustic style furniture that takes on a completely natural look, shape, and finish. Depending on where your cabin is located and the style you are wanting to create in your cabin, any of these three styles of furniture will look great.

What Purpose Will the Furniture Serve?
The next question you need to ask yourself is what purpose the furniture will serve. Sounds like a no-brainer, but taking the time to actually look at the room you are putting furniture in will help you figure out the purpose for each piece you choose. For example, if the living room is the main gathering place in your cabin, then you need to invest in good quality furniture for seating and gathering.

But if you have another room in your cabin for gathering such as a family room or the kitchen, then you won’t need a lot of seating in the living room. Furniture for seating should be comfortable as well as looking good with the rest of the room.  Furniture pieces should also be functional and serve more than one purpose to keep from over-cluttering each room.

Outdoor Furniture Styles
The last thing to consider is your outdoor furniture. Surely, you won’t be cooped up in your cabin forever, especially if you have an amazing view to go with your amazing new cabin. So give yourself a nice place to sit outside. Put extra seating on the porch or patio so your guests can enjoy the great outdoors with you. If you plan on hosting parties and get-togethers outside, Amish-made picnic tables make a great addition, and are made to withstand all types of weather with little maintenance.

It’s easy to just throw random pieces of furniture in a room, but you just put everything you had into making a beautiful home for you and your family, so why not use beautiful pieces of furniture as well?
