Greene & Greene Furniture
Greene & Greene Furniture is the inspiration of the architects Charles Sumner Greene
and Henry Mather Greene whose artistic workwould culminate between 1907 and 1909 with
the construction of the "ultimate bungalows." Greene & Greene Furniture, like their
bungalow design, is a testament to form and function. With through tenons and exposed
ebony square dowel pin joints, the intricate wood joinery is typical of that seen in
theGamble House of Pasadena, California, a hallmark of the Greene & Greene contributions
to the Mission Furniture and Arts & Crafts Furniture movement.
